Driving Posture: Set Up the Seat Before You Start Moving
Driving posture starts before the car moves. Set the seat and mirrors so you can see without reaching, twisting, or shrinking toward the wheel.
Set the seat for control first
Move the seat so you can reach the pedals without locking your knees or stretching for them. Keep your back supported and let your shoulders rest while your hands hold the wheel. Your position should leave room to make normal steering movements.
Do not adjust the seat while driving. Set it before you leave and check that you can see the road without leaning forward.
Use the mirrors as a posture check
Adjust the mirrors after you settle into the seat. If you keep leaning or twisting to see, the mirror or seat position may be the first thing to change. Your head should be able to turn for safe checks without your whole torso doing the work.
Break up long trips
On longer drives, stop in a safe place, walk for a few minutes, and change position before continuing. A break is part of the driving plan, not a sign that you set the seat incorrectly.
You can use gentle shoulder and hip movements during a stop, but keep them comfortable and do not stretch beside traffic.

General posture tips cannot identify the cause of persistent pain or numbness. Stop any movement that feels wrong and ask a qualified healthcare professional for individual advice.
