The Five-Minute Posture Reset for a Stuck Workday

When a workday has folded you into the same position, use five minutes to change the position instead of trying to hold a better one.

Minute one: stand and walk

Stand up, let your arms hang, and walk a few steps. Get water if you need a reason to leave the chair. The first minute is about changing the shape and load of the workday, not performing an exercise perfectly.

Minutes two and three: use small ranges

Do five slow chin tucks, then move your shoulders through a few comfortable circles. Keep your eyes forward during chin tucks and avoid forcing your neck backward.

If you have space, add a few wall slides. Shorten the range if your elbows or wrists cannot stay near the wall.

Minutes four and five: return with a better setup

Before sitting down, put the screen in front of you, bring the keyboard closer, and check whether your feet are supported. The reset works better when the desk does not send you straight back into the same reach.

OSHA and Mayo Clinic both frame workstation setup and regular movement as parts of the solution. Use the reset as a cue to change the day, not as proof that the chair was your only problem.

Keep the reset easy to repeat

You can save the sequence as a reminder or use Uncurled for a guided session. Stop if movement causes pain, dizziness, numbness, or unusual discomfort.
