Glute Exercises for Posture: Start With Controlled Bridges
Glute bridges are an easy place to start because they let you practice hip movement while lying on the floor and moving slowly.
Set up the bridge
Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat. Place your feet so you can press through the floor without your heels lifting. Let your arms rest by your sides and keep your ribs relaxed.
Before lifting, notice whether your lower back is already arching. You do not need to flatten it aggressively. Find a position you can control.
Lift from the hips
Press through your feet, squeeze your glutes, and lift your hips until your body forms a comfortable line. Pause briefly, then lower with control. Stop before the movement turns into a backbend.
Start with a small number of repetitions and keep the same pace on the way down. The lowering phase is part of the exercise.
Pair bridges with posture movement
Add chin tucks, wall slides, or a half-kneeling hip flexor stretch to cover more than one area. A short sequence is easier to repeat than a long list of exercises.
NHS posture guidance supports regular, comfortable exercise. Uncurled can turn a few movements into a guided session with reminders.
Keep safety practical
Stop if you feel pain, dizziness, numbness, or unusual discomfort. Get individual advice before exercising if you have an injury or medical condition.
