Posture After Waking Up: A Gentle Way to Get Moving
You do not need to stretch hard the moment you wake up. Start with easy movement and let your body decide how much range feels useful.
Leave the bed before testing range
Stand up slowly and walk around for a minute. Let the hips, shoulders, and arms move naturally. If your body feels stiff, walking gives you a way to warm up without forcing a deep stretch.
Use a small sequence
Try five chin tucks, a few shoulder circles, and a gentle standing reach on each side. Add a half-kneeling hip flexor stretch only if kneeling feels comfortable and the stretch stays mild.
The NHS recommends comfortable movement and stopping when an exercise aggravates symptoms. There is no need to chase a large range first thing in the morning.
Attach the habit to breakfast
Use the kettle, coffee machine, or breakfast routine as the cue. Uncurled can guide the session and remind you when the next practice is due.
If you feel pain, dizziness, numbness, or unusual discomfort, stop and ask a qualified healthcare professional for advice if it continues.
