Posture Stretches Before Bed: Keep the Routine Calm

An evening posture routine can be a quiet change of position after a day of sitting. Keep the stretches mild and finish before you feel wired.

Choose the floor or a stable chair

Use a position that feels safe and easy to leave. Start with a few relaxed shoulder circles and a gentle chest opening. Keep your breathing normal rather than trying to force a long stretch.

If the floor feels uncomfortable, sit on a stable chair or use the standing versions. The routine should make sense in your bedroom, not require a special studio.

Give the hips a small change

Try a mild half-kneeling hip flexor stretch or a few slow glute bridges. Stop before the movement feels demanding. The goal is to leave the day with a different position, not to exhaust the muscles.

NHS guidance recommends comfortable exercise and stopping when movement increases symptoms.

End with the next cue

Put the phone down, take a short walk around the room, and decide when tomorrow's movement session will happen. Uncurled can remind you at the time you choose and show your progress over the week.

Stop if anything causes pain, dizziness, numbness, or unusual discomfort, and get individual advice for persistent symptoms.
