Shoulder Mobility Exercises Without Forcing the Range
Shoulder mobility improves through regular, controlled movement. Use a range you can own instead of pushing into the tightest point.
Warm up with circles
Let your arms hang and make slow shoulder circles. Keep the neck easy and use a smaller circle if you feel yourself shrugging. Reverse direction after a few repetitions.
This is a way to notice how the shoulders move today. It is not a test of how large a circle you can make.
Use wall slides
Stand with your back against a wall and bend your elbows. Slide your arms up and down through a comfortable range. Keep your ribs relaxed and stop before the shoulders begin to pinch or the neck takes over.
A shorter range gives you more control. You can widen the range over time if it remains comfortable.
Try a towel rotation
Hold a towel with a wide grip and slowly arc it overhead. Return along the same path. Widen your hands if you feel strain and do not force the towel behind you.
NHS guidance recommends staying within a comfortable range and stopping exercises that aggravate symptoms.
Give the shoulders regular chances to move
Use a short sequence during a work break or before a walk. Uncurled can guide the movements and help you keep the practice visible. Stop if you feel pain, dizziness, numbness, or unusual discomfort.
